The team that myself and my business partner had visualized to assist expats in all phases of a move to Colombia, is nearing completion. My partner is an architect that has worked many years in Europe but also spent the last two decades in Bogota, you could say that Colombia is in his blood. He is originally from New York City and graduated from the Princeton School of Architecture, he is fluent in three languages and gets by in a fourth. He is also the CEO of a company called Colombia Investing.
Also joining us is his Chief Financial Officer, an economist located in California that has many years of financial experience at the highest levels, he graduated with an MBA from Dartmouth after completing his undergraduate studies in economics. He has visited the country many times and is very familiar with its rules and regulations.
A third member is also an architect, an English speaking Colombian, that spent years as the chief building official of a town near Armenia, who brings his two associates along, both structural engineers. This trio will be responsible for the design, engineering services and the construction integrity of our homes. They will also do home inspections of resale properties if that is warranted, and in many cases, it will be.
We also have two respected lawyers, one in Bogota, a specialist in immigration procedures, who will navigate our clientele through that aspect of a move. The second is a bilingual real estate lawyer, in Armenia, that will be invaluable in explaining the Spanish written documents, to our buyers.
The final member of our team needs to be an expert in helping people move their purchase money to Colombia, and for that, we are looking to a bilingual employee of the Banco de Republica, we have yet to make that contact. This will be a very important individual, and a critical member of the group, we have heard of cases where documentation was not entirely correct when money was brought in, and that made things very difficult when trying to repatriate it.
Our goal is to remove the stress, or at least reduce it as much as possible, for our buyers, and replace it with a feeling of comfort, and confidence, that our people are doing their best to satisfy our client’s needs. Our team consists of professionals that will advise expats in their area of expertise, opinions in Colombia from those not completely knowledgeable in a subject are common, but not always reliable. We not only have the ability to provide the best advice available to protect our buyer’s real estate investment, but have qualified people close at hand to resolve issues in other areas. Being left on your own to wade through the bureaucracy of a strange country can be overwhelming. No one else offers this service, it is a market leading concept, visualized by my partner, and should be taken advantage of by buyers moving here. To have everything an expat, and others, would need under one roof, might even be termed futuristic. If you are considering Armenia, earlier blogs cover the property questionnaire and the “Get To Know Armenia” 5 night package, taking advantage of those will help with making your decision.
We look forward to receiving your inquiry.
